Heavy rains pounded the Marathwada region of Maharashtra over the past 24 hours, culminating at 9 AM on Monday. Pathri village in Parbhani district recorded a massive rainfall of 314 mm, resulting in the death of four people and significantly disrupting life in rural areas, officials stated.

The severe wet spells impacted at least 63 villages, with preliminary assessments by Revenue authorities indicating damage to houses and crops spanning 45 hectares of land. The water discharge commenced from the Siddheshwar, Jayakwadi, and Vishnupuri dams on Monday, while Vishnupuri dam reached full capacity and Jayakwadi dam recorded 87.03% water levels.

Revenue circles in all eight districts of Marathwada witnessed heavy downpours exceeding 65 mm on Sunday. Authorities lifted the gates of the Vishnupuri dam in Nanded, issuing alerts to downstream villages along the Godavari river. The flooding led to the submergence of a bridge connecting Hingoli and Sengaon villages. Tragically, reports confirmed the death of at least four people and 88 animals as well as significant damage to pucca and kuccha houses and agricultural crops.
