Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Sunday that parts of Vijayawada are grappling with severe flooding due to unprecedented rainfall, swollen rivulets, and floodwater inflows, disrupting the lives of over 2.7 lakh people.

Naidu stated that Budameru, a rivulet on the city's outskirts, breached at multiple locations, flooding ground floors in several residential areas including Ajit Singh Nagar and Krishnalanka. He warned that floodwaters are expected to rise further.

Heavy rainfall from the catchment areas in neighbouring Telangana has exacerbated the situation, along with inflows from several key projects. The CM recounted similar flooding in 1998 and stressed that the current crisis could worsen.
