Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Thursday described the capital's current state as a 'living hell' created by an 'artificial financial crisis' at the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), as she addressed a letter to the chief secretary concerning widespread 'sewer overflow' issues.

The chief secretary's office has yet to respond to the allegations. According to an official statement, Atishi inspected multiple distressed areas based on resident complaints and emphasized that the chief secretary must resolve the crisis promptly.

Atishi warned that the ongoing sewage overflow poses serious public health risks, increasing the likelihood of diseases and epidemics. She criticized the bureaucratic hurdles causing the DJB's financial distress and directed immediate action to remedy the situation.
