Tragic Lightning Strikes Amid Heavy Rains Disrupt Telangana

Two individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes in Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana amidst heavy rain. A 40-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were struck while in agricultural fields. The rains caused significant disruption, including waterlogging and traffic issues in Hyderabad and other regions.

Two individuals tragically lost their lives after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Jogulamba Gadwal district of Telangana on Monday. The heavy rains affected several parts of the state, including the capital, Hyderabad, where normal life was thrown out of gear.

A senior police official reported that a 40-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl died at different locations in Gattu and Maldakal. Both were struck by lightning in agricultural fields during the rain.

The downpour resulted in waterlogging and severe traffic snarls in Hyderabad and other towns. In Nizamabad, a public transport bus got stuck in floodwater under a Road under Bridge (RUB), but passengers were safely rescued by authorities and local residents.

The Met Centre of IMD predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in districts like Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Hyderabad, and others on August 20.
