The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is intensifying its training programs for street vendors countrywide to ensure the provision of safe food, FSSAI CEO G Kamala Vardhana Rao announced.
A strategic meeting in Mumbai, chaired by Bhushan Varsha Ashok Gagrani, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), was held to devise plans for safer street food. Attendees included high-level officials and representatives from Thane, Nagpur, Nasik, and Pune.
FSSAI's statement highlighted the initiative to develop Healthy and Hygienic Food Streets (HHFS) in Mumbai, aiming to elevate street food to global safety standards. The meeting culminated in discussions on providing safe, healthy, and sustainable food, inspired by the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' theme.
