Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated 32 new city civic centres across the state on Saturday.

According to a government release, these centres, envisioned as one-stop shops, aim to reduce the time required to resolve various citizen issues and offer convenient access to online municipal services. At the unveiling ceremony in Balasinor, Mahisagar district, Patel inspected the facilities and distributed certificates to applicants.

The city civic centre initiative, first implemented in the 2022-23 fiscal year under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, was initially made operational in 22 municipalities. In the second phase for 2023-24, approvals were granted for additional centres in 66 municipalities. These centres will manage tasks such as property tax, marriage registration, and professional tax, among others. Additionally, Patel visited a 581-crore lift irrigation project in Mahisagar—a project that will benefit 125 villages by covering 8,100 hectares of land in Mahisagar and Kheda districts. During a review meeting, he stressed the importance of completing the project on time and inspected its key components. On his way to Raiyoli, the Chief Minister also took a brief moment to interact with schoolchildren, inquiring about their studies and school facilities.
