Mumbai Shuts Down Amid Heavy Rainfall Red Alert
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Mumbai following a red alert issued by the IMD. Heavy rainfall has been reported in various parts of the city, with the highest recorded in Andheri's Malpa Dongri. Neighboring regions also face varying degrees of rain alerts.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced a citywide holiday for schools and colleges on Thursday, following a red alert from the IMD due to heavy rains.
Authorities have urged schools to notify parents and undertake necessary safety measures. Mumbai experienced rainfall exceeding 100 mm in several areas between 4 am and 1 pm, with Malpa Dongri in Andheri recording 157 mm, making it the highest.
The IMD's red alert for Mumbai and surrounding districts, including Thane, Raigad, and Palghar, forecasts very heavy to extremely heavy rain during the day, while other regions in Maharashtra face orange and yellow alerts.
