Madhya Pradesh emerged as the 'Best Performing State' in the Prime Minister SVANidhi scheme, according to an announcement by the Union housing and urban affairs ministry on Thursday.

The SVANidhi scheme, which was initiated by the Narendra Modi government in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, offers urban street vendors collateral-free loans up to Rs 50,000.

Following Madhya Pradesh, Assam was ranked second in the 'Best Performing States- Innovation and Best Practices Award' category.

In the 'Best Performing ULBs - Loan Performance with mega and million plus cities' category, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) secured first place, followed by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar presented the awards, with Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu also in attendance.

The National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM) awards were also unveiled, with Kerala leading in the 'Systematic Progressive Analytical Real Time Ranking (SPARK)' category, trailed by Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
