Karnataka is bracing for substantial rainfall until July 16, with authorities issuing red alerts for multiple regions. According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the state is expected to see heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, particularly in coastal and interior areas.

The deputy commissioner of Uttara Kannada district, Laxmipriya, has declared holidays for schools and PU colleges in Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, and other taluks due to the severe weather forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The red alert signifies rainfall exceeding 20 cm within 24 hours.

The IMD has reported that Castle Rock in Uttara Kannada recorded the highest rainfall on Sunday, receiving 220 mm. The heavy rains are attributed to the monsoon conditions exacerbated by off-shore troughs and cyclonic circulations channeling moisture into the state.
