The bridge, aimed at connecting Dumritola and Karipahri villages, is being constructed on the Fatehpur-Bhelwagati road. ''The bridge is under construction. A single-span girder of the bridge collapsed due to heavy rain and a pillar tilted,'' Vinay Kumar, Executive Engineer of the Road Construction Department, Giridih, told PTI. ''The contractor has been asked to rebuild the portion.''

Sources revealed that the bridge is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 5 crore and would connect the remote villages of Giridih in Jharkhand and Jamui district in Bihar. Another engineer mentioned that the casting on the girder was done a week ago and required at least 28 days to strengthen.
