Tragedy struck Delhi as three individuals, including two young boys, drowned in waterlogged underpasses following a day of heavy rainfall in the city. The first incident transpired in SP Badali, near the Siraspur underpass, when the police were alerted to the boys' submersion around 2.25 pm. Despite swift action and a search operation by the fire brigade, both boys were found deceased.
Authorities revealed that one of the boys was a local resident, while the identity of the other remains unknown. Preliminary investigations suggest the boys were bathing when they drowned.
The second tragic occurrence involved a 60-year-old man, Digvijay Kumar Chaudhary, who drowned in the waterlogged section of the Okhla Industrial Area underpass. Chaudhary, trapped during the downpour while riding his scooter, was found unconscious and later declared dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Police have commenced inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
