A book written on the life of Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha, Kerala's saint, is an outcome of the fundamental principle of 'guru-shishya parampara' and the spiritual 'saadhana' of the author, DMRC Principal Advisor E Sreedharan has said.
The book 'A Great Association-Glimpses into the Life of Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha' authored by Swami Nirviseshananda Tirtha was released by Prasar Bharati's CEO Shashi Shekar Vempati and Sreedharan was the guest of honour at the book release function.
Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha, the renowned saint of Narayanashrama Tapovanam, Kerala, is the spiritual Guru of Sreedharan.
Addressing the gathering here after receiving the first copy of the book from Vempati, Sreedharan said, "This book is an outcome of the fundamental principle of Guru-shishya parampara. It is an outcome of the spiritual saadhana of the author".
Vempati said, "It is very important that our spiritual knowledge, our culture, our history, has to be digitally preserved for the generations to come - to make it accessible to people, not just across India, but across the world, in multiple languages. My hope is that The Great Association will have a strong digital presence in multiple languages so that disciples across the world are able to access the learnings from it."
The book's author revealed in the book that for any seeker, the first step in the pursuit of self-realization is to understand the spatial dimension of a knower's mind - his impersonal love and dispassionate passion that are expressed through his behaviour, his responses to various situations.
He said that instead of making a saint an avtar (incarnation of God) and worshipping him from a distance, a true seeker must look for the qualities that made the saint saintly and try to inculcate those qualities.
"Swamiji's incisive analysis and depiction of Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha's eventful life will greatly benefit the seekers of true spiritual evolution," he said.
