Massive Voter Roll Survey Launched Across Odisha

In Odisha, over 45,000 booth-level officers are conducting a Special Intensive Revision voter roll survey. This door-to-door campaign, starting from Puri, aims to update records with minimal documentation required from voters. The effort ensures accuracy and inclusion in the electoral process.

Over 45,000 booth-level officers are engaged in a door-to-door survey across Odisha as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This statewide campaign, beginning in Puri, aims to ensure accurate voter records across all 147 assembly segments.

Chief Electoral Officer R S Gopalan emphasized that 75% of voters only need to sign required forms, with no additional documentation required. The initiative is designed to be hassle-free and aims to verify and correct voter records dating back to 2002.

The survey, which accommodates ongoing heatwave conditions, involves BLOs visiting homes before 11 am and assisting at booths from 3 pm to 5 pm. Forms documenting personal and family information will be distributed and collected during this time.

The exercise aims to prevent any eligible voter from being excluded while ensuring the integrity of voter lists. A draft of the updated electoral roll will be available on July 5, with final publication slated for September 6.
