The Telangana Assembly has passed a resolution opposing the use of population as the sole criterion for the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy argued that such measures could lead to a significant drop in the representation of southern states in the Parliament.
Reddy accused the ruling BJP of attempting to marginalize southern states through this move, urging political parties in Telangana to stand united in defending the state's interests. He called upon the chief ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka to join a meeting aimed at addressing this issue.
The resolution emphasizes that states with effective population control should not be penalized. It also calls for increased state assembly seats and constitutional amendments to ensure fair representation. Reddy continues to rally for the protection of political self-respect and legitimate rights for southern states.
