Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clarified that the appointment of the Leader of Opposition in the state legislative assembly is solely at the discretion of the Speaker, with no government interference. Fadnavis made these statements following the conclusion of the recent Budget session of the state legislature.
The Mahayuti coalition, an alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party, remains committed to advancing Maharashtra's growth rate. Emphasizing their resounding victory in the November 2024 assembly elections, where they captured 230 of 288 seats, the government is seen actively pursuing industrial and economic advancements.
Amid the legislative activity, including the passage of 12 bills, discussions focused on preventing fraudulent practices among labor sectors and addressing local controversies. Deputy CM Shinde emphasized Maharashtra's commitment to being an industry-friendly state, with a spotlight on startups, FDI, and GDP enhancement.
