Four US Army soldiers are currently unaccounted for after disappearing at a training site outside Lithuania's capital, sparking a search effort, according to the US military.

A release from US Army Europe and Africa public affairs in Wiesbaden, Germany, confirmed the soldiers were engaged in scheduled tactical training exercises when they went missing.

Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reported that the soldiers and a vehicle vanished on Tuesday afternoon during maneuvers at the General Silvestras Žukauskas training ground in Pabrade, near the Belarus border. Lithuania, a NATO member, shares tense ties with Russia, particularly following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
