Mayawati Criticizes BJP's 'Saugat-e-Modi' for Minority Outreach
Mayawati critiqued BJP's 'Saugat-e-Modi,' aimed at minority engagement, as a political tactic. She opined that distributing temporary gifts doesn't address the longstanding issues of poverty and fear among minorities. Instead, deeper socio-economic issues, like job creation and safety, should be prioritized.

On Wednesday, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati termed the BJP's 'Saugat-e-Modi' initiative for minorities as a politically charged strategy. This remark came shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party rolled out the initiative aimed at minority engagement by distributing kits with clothes and eatables for women.
Mayawati expressed skepticism on social media, indicating that although the initiative, which targets 32 lakh poor minority families on occasions like Eid and Baisakhi, seems generous, it primarily serves BJP's political interests. She voiced concerns about the permanent issues of poverty and fear troubling the Muslim and Bahujan communities.
Furthermore, Mayawati stressed that instead of offering temporary gifts, the central and state governments should strive to tackle the root problems like unemployment and lack of safety. Permanent solutions, she argued, are essential for ensuring stability and progress in these communities.
