In an incisive critique, Leader of Opposition Atishi lambasted the Delhi budget presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, dubbing it a 'hawa hawai budget' and alleging it was filled with unrealistic promises.

Atishi charged that the absence of an Economic Survey before the budget presentation was a deliberate move by the BJP government to conceal the genuine fiscal numbers, which she claims would have exposed the shortcomings of the proposed budget. She further accused the government of slashing important allocations to key sectors such as education, health, and municipal services.

Despite the controversy, Chief Minister Gupta described the budget as a historic shift towards eradicating corruption and inefficiency. Presenting a Rs one lakh crore budget for FY26, Gupta outlined ten key focus areas, positing it as a roadmap towards making Delhi self-reliant, amidst opposition critiques.
