Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, has openly criticized the United States for what she describes as unacceptable pressure on Greenland. Her comments precede an unofficial visit to the territory by a notable U.S. delegation.

Set to take place from Thursday to Saturday, the visit will include Usha Vance, spouse of Vice President JD Vance, alongside White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Frederiksen expressed her firm stance against the perceived pressure in an interview with TV2, stating, "I have to say that it is unacceptable pressure being placed on Greenland and Denmark in this situation. And it is pressure that we will resist."

The high-profile delegation did not receive invitations from Greenlandic or Danish governments, raising concerns over the nature of their trip. Brian Hughes, a White House National Security Council spokesman, stated that the delegation aims to familiarize themselves with Greenland's culture, history, and people. However, Frederiksen rejected the notion of the visit being private due to the official status of the visitors.
