Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday, accusing them of misrepresenting his statements about the Constitution. He asserted that legal consultations are underway to address the alleged twisting of his remarks. 'There is no hide and seek in this issue,' Shivakumar stated, emphasizing the frequent constitutional amendments following court judgments on quotas.
Rejecting claims that he suggested altering the Constitution, Shivakumar described BJP's narrative as mere propaganda. 'In my 36 years of public service, I've maintained common sense, yet the BJP distorts my words,' he told reporters, dismissing criticism over his comments to a private TV channel.
Asking to present proof of his alleged controversial statements, Shivakumar challenged the BJP's integrity. He detailed the party's historical attempts to mislead the public and labeled the controversies as part of a longstanding political conspiracy. Meanwhile, tensions escalated in Rajya Sabha with BJP demanding Shivakumar's resignation and Congress leaders countering the allegations.
