The leader of the opposition, Atishi, has strongly criticized the delay of the Economic Survey under the BJP-led Delhi government as the Budget Session commenced. Monday marked the start of the session with a traditional ceremony, yet the absence of the survey has drawn ire.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured assembly members that the Economic Survey would be tabled soon, citing ongoing audits in various departments. "Comprehensive audits are crucial, and patience is necessary," Gupta stated, defending the postponement.
Atishi expressed concerns over budgeting without a financial review. She dismissed explanations linking the delay to pending audit reports and questioned the government's transparency. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Gupta is set to present Delhi's budget, the first under BJP rule in 26 years.
