In a sharp retort, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday denounced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly distorting his remarks regarding constitutional changes, asserting that he never suggested altering the Constitution. Speaking at his residence in Sadashivanagar, Shivakumar described the BJP's claims as propaganda and pledged to address the issue legally.
When confronted with BJP's criticism of his comments on religion-based reservations during a TV interview, Shivakumar dismissed the allegations as a misrepresentation of his words. He highlighted the Congress party's role in crafting the Constitution, accusing the BJP of misleading the public as part of a broader political conspiracy.
Shivakumar also addressed posts by BJP leader Amit Malviya, which he claimed misled the public. Calling BJP's actions a symptom of cheap political tactics, Shivakumar urged proof for any claims that he advocated constitutional amendments. He also defended Congress as the party that established the Constitution, insisting on the significance of upholding it.
