The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a strong critique against Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, with the party's National Secretary condemning the Congress leader's alleged comments on modifying the Constitution. The BJP claims Shivakumar aims to withdraw reservations from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes to benefit Muslims.
Shivakumar, however, has responded fervently amid the growing dispute, accusing the BJP of misrepresentation and spreading false information. He insisted, 'I am a thoughtful, experienced politician, familiar with Assembly functions for over three decades. My comments were on legal judgments affecting quotas, not constitutional changes.'
Further defending his position, Shivakumar stated, 'The BJP is misquoting me, and I will address this through a breach of privilege notice. Our party implemented the Constitution, and I'm committed to safeguarding it.' His remarks follow a BJP outcry, criticizing alleged Congress-led efforts for Muslim appeasement under constitutional pretext.
