In Haryana politics, a delay in delivering on a key election promise has sparked a heated debate. The state government, led by BJP, had pledged to provide Rs 2,100 in monthly assistance to women under the 'Lado Lakshmi Yojana', a promise now under close examination.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi briefed the assembly, informing lawmakers that the proposal is still under consideration. With the 2024 assembly elections approaching, the timing of the aid's implementation is of growing concern to both constituents and politicians alike.
Congress MLA Pooja expressed frustration over unclear timelines, questioning the government's commitment. Minister Bedi, however, defended the administration, asserting that the BJP's promises remain steadfast, contrasting them with the Congress's history of unfulfilled commitments in other states.
