Delhi is poised for a significant political appointment as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will put forward the name of BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht for the deputy speaker position of the Delhi Assembly on February 27. The decision comes during the third day of the current session.
With no competition for the post, Bisht's election seems assured. The procedural scenario will unfold through two motions; the first proposed by CM Gupta and endorsed by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, while the second is set forth by MLA Anil Kumar Sharma with support from Gajender Singh Yadav.
Bisht, a seasoned political figure, recently claimed the Mustafabad assembly constituency with a substantial margin, reinforcing his long-standing presence in Delhi's legislative arena. Besides the appointment, the Assembly will delve into discussions under Rule 280 and critically evaluate the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on Delhi's liquor supply.
