In a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Alka Lamba demanded answers over the alleged Rs 33 crore expenditure on what she termed the 'Sheesh Mahal'. Highlighting a CAG report, Lamba questioned the use of taxpayer money on a temporary CM residence while pressing issues remain unaddressed.
Lamba, challenging CM Atishi in Kalkaji, accused Kejriwal of diverting public funds to build his house, insisting that those offering guarantees to Delhiites should first have their own credibility. Lamba claimed love and support from locals, attributing it to growing anti-incumbency due to rising costs and unemployment. She also announced the 'Pyari Didi' scheme to aid women financially.
Meanwhile, Congress's Abhishek Dutt from Kasturba Nagar echoed concerns, labeling the 'Sheesh Mahal' as a symbol of corruption. He suggested the residence be investigated and sealed. Despite holding power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, Congress has struggled in recent polls, as AAP continues its stronghold winning 62 of 70 seats in 2020.
