The Congress party has declared Alka Lamba as its candidate for the forthcoming assembly elections, specifically from the Kalkaji constituency. Lamba will go head-to-head against the Aam Aadmi Party's leader, Chief Minister Atishi, in what promises to be a high-stakes electoral battle.
This announcement was part of the Congress's third list of candidates, which notably includes just one name for the February assembly polls. As confirmed by the All India Congress Committee, the Central Election Committee has approved Lamba's candidature.
Lamba, who leads the All India Mahila Congress, has a storied political career, having won the Chandani Chowk seat as an AAP candidate in 2015 before joining the Congress in 2019. Meanwhile, the AAP has already announced its complete list of candidates for the 70-member assembly.
