NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal has called for caution after demands were made for the resignation of Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde. These demands followed the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed. According to Bhujbal, such demands are both premature and unwarranted.
Speaking to the press, Bhujbal noted that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised a detailed inquiry into the incident. Deshmukh was reportedly abducted, tortured, and murdered after interfering in an extortion attempt involving a local energy firm. A close associate of Minister Munde, Walmik Karad, has been apprehended in connection with the case.
Bhujbal, recalling his own ordeal with the Telgi case in 2003, stressed the importance of concrete evidence before demanding resignation. He reminded reporters of the investigation by the CBI, following which he was cleared of any wrongdoing. Bhujbal criticized the political rhetoric for being hasty without an inquiry's results.
