NCP MLA Prakash Solanke has urged the removal of Minister Dhananjay Munde from the Maharashtra ministry to ensure a fair investigation into the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. Solanke, representing the Nationalist Congress Party, is the second Mahayuti coalition member to call for Munde's ouster, following similar criticisms from BJP MLA Suresh Dhas.
Solanke accused Munde of having given undue powers to close aide Walmik Karad during his tenure as Beed's guardian minister. Karad, now arrested, is accused of being an "unconstitutional authority" in Beed, where lawlessness and extortion were rife, influencing the murder case of Deshmukh.
Advocating for a fair probe, Solanke stressed that Munde should be removed from his cabinet position. Santosh Deshmukh was murdered after opposing extortion attempts on an energy firm's windmill project. In connection with Deshmukh's murder, six out of seven suspects have been apprehended so far.
