The political tensions in Uttar Pradesh have intensified as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi publicly criticized the BJP government over a controversial construction project. At the heart of the controversy is a police outpost being erected near the Jama Masjid in Sambhal, allegedly on waqf property—a claim denied by district authorities.
Owaisi's remarks came during an event where he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of avoiding international scrutiny by not showing foreign leaders the local developments in Sambhal while visiting Kuwait. He suggested that the construction aims to obstruct access to a recently discovered stepwell.
The district magistrate countered the allegations, stating no legal documents have been produced to verify the land's waqf status. The police outpost is part of a broader security strategy following violent clashes on November 24, which tragically resulted in four deaths.
