Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has publicly condemned the construction of a police post near Jama Masjid in Sambhal. Owaisi holds Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accountable for what he terms a "dangerous environment" in the region. He asserts that the police post is being built on waqf land and that construction near protected monuments is forbidden under the Ancient Monuments Act. Owaisi announced his positions in a post on the social media platform X.

On Monday, Owaisi referenced empirical studies that he claims reveal a failure of government services in areas with substantial Muslim populations. According to him, research by Paul Lovosad from Dartmouth College and MIT highlights discrimination in these areas, particularly under BJP governance, where public services such as hospitals and schools are scarce.

Owaisi underscored the high dropout rates among Muslim women and other educational and health challenges facing the Muslim community. He mentioned ongoing construction of a police post near the Jama Masjid in Sambhal, which involves tight security measures by the Rapid Action Force (RAF). Meanwhile, Shrish Chandra, Sambhal's Assistant Superintendent of Police, stated that the construction is progressing swiftly and will soon be completed. The turmoil follows recent violence during an Archaeological Survey of India examination of a Mughal-era mosque, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
