The political tussle over Rohingya settlement has intensified as Congress leader Pawan Khera took aim at Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Khera accused Puri of indirectly targeting BJP leaders Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh in a tweet suggesting that the government has adopted a favorable stance towards Rohingyas.
Puri's allegations were sparked by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's claims that the Centre possessed extensive information on Rohingya settlements in India. Puri countered these claims, stating that no Rohingya has been provided a flat anywhere, and accused the AAP government in Delhi of providing undue benefits to the community.
With the Delhi assembly elections on the horizon, the issue has ballooned into a contentious political matter, with AAP and BJP trading serious accusations over their role in the Rohingya settlement debate. Both parties are using this issue to gain political ground, highlighting its significance in the electoral context.
