In a significant move, the BJP has expelled 11 functionaries in Maharashtra's Akola district, including a Zilla Parishad member, for anti-party activities during the state assembly elections. The action targets those involved in internal rebellion against the Mahayuti alliance.
Statewide BJP unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been informed of the expulsions, as confirmed by Kishor Mangte Patil, the party's district president. This decision underscores the party's intent to maintain unity within its ranks amidst challenges faced in the recently concluded elections.
During the polls held on November 20, with results declared on November 23, the BJP secured a win in Akola East but succumbed to the Congress in Akola West constituency. Included among those expelled are prominent local leaders, illustrating the party's commitment to discipline.
