U.S. Allocates Fresh $3.4 Billion to Ukraine Amid Intensifying Conflict
The United States has provided an additional $3.4 billion in budget aid to Ukraine, bolstering Ukraine's government during escalating Russian attacks. This contribution is the final allocation from the 2024 Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, bringing total U.S. aid to Ukraine to over $30 billion.
The U.S. has announced a new tranche of $3.4 billion in funding to Ukraine, part of ongoing efforts to support the war-torn nation amidst increased Russian aggression. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasized its importance for maintaining Ukrainian governance.
Coordinated with USAID and the State Department, this funding caps the 2024 Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act. Since Russia's invasion, U.S. aid totals over $30 billion, largely supporting teacher and state employee salaries.
With $175 billion in assistance committed overall, the Biden administration aims to reinforce Ukraine's defenses before President-elect Trump, who opposes military aid, takes office. Yellen champions continued support, warning it's vital for U.S. national interests.
