The National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir has voiced its discontent with the lieutenant governor's choice to exclude days commemorating the 1931 martyrs and party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah from the holiday list for 2025.

NC chief spokesman Tanvir Sadiq took to X to express concerns about the BJP's perceived disregard for the region's rich historical and democratic legacy. This sentiment is echoed due to the absence of these holidays, once critical fixtures in the social and political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite the omission, the significance of these days and the legacy of figures like Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah remain undiminished, with many hoping for future restoration. Criticism also emerged from CPI(M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, who accused the administration of distorting history and undermining the empowerment of J-K's people.
