In Karnataka, a political storm brews as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accuses the BJP of attempting to destabilize his government by offering bribes. At an event in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah claimed the saffron party had enticingly offered Rs 50 crore each to 50 Congress MLAs. BJP officials vehemently denied these allegations, challenging the Chief Minister to present evidence.
Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra criticized Siddaramaiah for what he described as 'baseless allegations,' suggesting the Chief Minister had lost faith in his own party's legislative members. Vijayendra stated if Siddaramaiah could not substantiate his claims, it would undermine his credibility. Siddaramaiah chose not to comment on Vijayendra’s remarks, redirecting public attention to the urgency of a thorough investigation.
While the BJP contends these claims, notable Congress figures, including Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, have voiced support for Siddaramaiah. They confirmed being apprised of the BJP's alleged approach to their MLAs. Ministers reiterated that Siddaramaiah would not make such allegations without credible evidence, highlighting previous persistent attempts to destabilize the state government.
