Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Uttar Pradesh for its poor handling of the protests by UPPSC exam aspirants in Prayagraj. Yadav's comments come as the protest entered its fourth day, with students visibly frustrated over the exam scheduling.
Protesters have been demonstrating outside the UPPSC headquarters, demanding better management of the Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer preliminary exams, which are scheduled for December 22 and 23, as well as the Provincial Civil Service preliminary exams on December 7 and 8. The decision to hold these exams on separate dates has been met with criticism from aspirants.
Addressing an election rally in Phulpur, Yadav accused the state's BJP government of jeopardizing the future of students through exam paper leaks and frequent cancellations. Despite expressing solidarity with the students, Yadav chose not to join the protest to avoid politicising the issue.
