The bypolls in five assembly constituencies across Assam recorded a high voter turnout of approximately 72.96%, despite minor incidents of violence on the day of voting, according to official sources.
Voter participation varied across the constituencies, with Samaguri at the forefront, registering the highest polling percentage at 78.10%. This was followed by Behali at 73.50%, Dholai at 72.40%, Sidli at 71.50%, and Bongaigaon at 69.08%.
The slightly marred voting process featured isolated complaints of violence and malfunctioning voting machines, but officials assured that these did not disrupt the overall voting process. Top political figures urged constituents to exercise their democratic rights amidst tight security across 1,078 polling stations.
