The stage is set for by-elections across six assembly constituencies in West Bengal, commencing from 7 AM and running until 5 PM, under stringent security measures. The election takes place in Sitai, Madarihat, Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, and Taldangra, with the ruling party and opposition both vying for control.
The need for by-elections arose following the exit of MLAs who successfully contested in the recent Lok Sabha elections. This contest marks the first time since 2021 that the CPI (M)-led Left Front and Congress are running separately, influenced by a shift in Congress leadership.
Intense competition is underway as political heavyweights TMC and BJP have introduced candidates across all regions. Left Front and Congress are not left out, with their respective candidate announcements. The counting day for these crucial by-elections is set for November 23.
