Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has issued a directive urging Shiv Sena workers to exercise caution in their language, particularly towards women, in the lead-up to the state assembly elections.
In a letter, Shinde acknowledged the tendency of party workers to mirror aggressive remarks from opponents but stressed the need for dignity over uncouthness.
The election campaign has seen controversial comments against women, prompting the Election Commission to threaten disciplinary measures. Polling will occur on November 20, with results declared on November 23.
