Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, has voiced criticism against what he describes as the ruling BJP's 'anti-farmer' policies. According to Gandhi, these policies have led to the disenchantment of Maharashtra's soybean and cotton farmers who are struggling with dwindling crop prices.
Gandhi pointed out the disparity in soybean prices, noting that while they reached Rs 10,000 in 2021, they have since plummeted below the Minimum Support Price, currently set at Rs 4,892. This situation has forced farmers to sell at even lower rates, exacerbating their difficulties.
In a recent virtual interaction with the farming community, Gandhi pledged relief measures, including a loan waiver and a financial support scheme for women, should the INDIA bloc assume governance. An anticipated rally in Buldhana was canceled due to a technical issue, but Gandhi sent a message reaffirming his commitment to resolve farmers' issues.
