Uddhav Thackeray, president of the Shiv Sena (UBT), claimed on Tuesday that election authorities examined his bags upon his arrival in Latur district, Maharashtra. He is on a campaign trail for the upcoming November 20 assembly elections.
This incident marks the second consecutive day that the former chief minister's party has shared a video on social media alleging improper scrutiny of Thackeray's bags by election officials. On Monday, the checks reportedly occurred after his helicopter landed in Wani, Yavatmal district, and Tuesday saw a similar occurrence in Ausa, Latur.
During the bag inspection, Thackeray engaged with the election officials, questioning the process and commenting on the lack of similar scrutiny for other politicians. He particularly pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Maharashtra on the same day, should face equivalent checks to ensure electoral fairness.
