In a sharp critique, Congress politician Vijay Wadettiwar accused BJP leaders of using polarizing slogans during the Maharashtra assembly elections. The controversial phrases, notably 'batenge toh katenge' and 'ek hai toh safe hai,' have sparked debate, reflecting BJP's apprehension ahead of the polls.
Historically used by BJP stalwart Yogi Adityanath, 'batenge to katenge' emerged amid student-led protests in Bangladesh. The slogan, embraced by RSS and BJP leaders, has been criticized by the opposition as divisive.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently countered with 'ek hai toh safe hai' during a rally in Dhule, addressing allegations against Congress of fragmenting communities. The slogans symbolize the tense competition between the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi in the upcoming elections.
