Ecuador's Vice President Turmoil: Sariha Moya Steps In
Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa appointed Planning Minister Sariha Moya to replace Vice President Veronica Abad, who has been suspended until April. Abad, also the ambassador to Israel, was suspended for not complying with an order to travel to Turkey, which she claims is unjust.
In a shake-up within Ecuador's political sphere, President Daniel Noboa has announced Planning Minister Sariha Moya as acting vice president. This appointment follows the suspension of Vice President Veronica Abad, who will be absent from office until April next year.
The labor ministry's decision comes as Abad, also serving as the ambassador to Israel, faces allegations of a serious disciplinary infraction. She was accused of defying an order to visit Turkey amid heightened security concerns arising from the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Abad took to social media to express her discontent, labeling the suspension as an unjust and clear violation of legal and justice principles. This development unfolds just three months before the upcoming elections where President Noboa intends to seek re-election.
