West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a fervent appeal to the electorate in six assembly constituencies facing bypolls to vote for the Trinamool Congress. Her appeal comes as the bypolls were triggered by the resignation of sitting MLAs following their success in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
The Chief Minister emphasized the continuous support of the state government, highlighting the Trinamool Congress' commitment to 'Ma, Mati, Manush.' Speaking at the NSCBI airport before her trip to Darjeeling, Banerjee urged the voters to back TMC for enhanced development in their regions.
In the upcoming bypolls, TMC has fielded candidates in all six constituencies, including Sitai, Madarihat, Naihati, Haroa, Taldangra, and Medinipur. While the party had previously won five of these seats in the 2021 assembly polls, it aims to secure a victory in Madarihat, a seat previously held by the BJP. Banerjee's visit to Darjeeling also includes meetings with the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and various development boards, aimed at strengthening TMC's influence in the region.
