In a fervent address at the 'Save Constitution' conference in Mumbai, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge fiercely criticized BJP's slogans 'Ek Hai to Safe Hai' and 'Batenge to Katenge'. Kharge alleged these slogans represent a threat to India's democratic fabric, accusing the BJP, PM Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah of stifling debate and discussion in Parliament.
He questioned the democratic credentials of Modi as prime minister, contrasting the current political climate with the decorum of past leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Kharge argued that under Modi's leadership, political decorum has diminished as the BJP seeks to dismantle democracy.
In the backdrop of Maharashtra's upcoming assembly polls, Kharge accused the BJP of using Central agencies to intimidate political opponents when faced with electoral challenges. Meanwhile, NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule reaffirmed a legal battle to secure party symbols in the Supreme Court and emphasized their ideological fight against BJP.
