Union Minister and BJP's Jharkhand election-incharge, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched a scathing attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led state government, alleging rampant corruption under its administration. He asserted that investigation agencies operate independently, dismissing any government involvement in recent Enforcement Directorate actions.
The controversy intensified following Income Tax raids on premises linked to Sunil Srivastava, a close aide to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Soren questioned the timing of these actions, expressing concern over the frequency of such raids since 2014, particularly during elections, complicating the political landscape.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP leader Pratul Shahdeo criticized Soren's reaction to the raids, suggesting it indicated their disruption to alleged financial activities linked to the elections. Simultaneously, Chouhan expressed confidence in BJP's electoral prospects as PM Narendra Modi prepares for rallies and roadshows in key locations, signaling a strategic display of political strength ahead of the assembly elections set for mid-November.
