Trump Finalizes Team, Excludes Familiar Faces
President-elect Donald Trump announced that Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo will not join his incoming administration. While he valued their previous work, they won't be part of the team he is currently assembling. Trump continues to meet with potential candidates, including investor Scott Bessent.
President-elect Donald Trump has announced that neither former Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley nor former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be part of his incoming administration. Trump took to social media to confirm his decision, although he expressed gratitude for their past service to the country.
As Trump prepares for his Jan. 20 inauguration, he is in discussions with potential candidates for various roles in his administration. Notably, Trump recently met with investor Scott Bessent, speculated to be a contender for the U.S. Treasury Secretary position. Despite past criticisms during party primaries, Haley had endorsed Trump for president after serving as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under his leadership.
Pompeo, who previously served as CIA Director and was mentioned as a possible defense secretary, declined to run for president in 2023 but remains tight-lipped on his future plans. Trump's 2025 inauguration will be co-chaired by real estate magnate Steve Witkoff and ex-Senator Kelly Loeffler.
