In a unique political twist, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stoked controversy in Himachal Pradesh by distributing samosas in Shimla, a move targeting the state's Congress-led government. An inquiry was triggered when samosas meant for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were served to his security personnel instead of him, sparking BJP criticism.
Critics, including BJP's Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma, expressed discontent over the inquiry, arguing that more pressing issues, such as unemployment and economic challenges, should take precedence. In protest, Sharma sent 11 samosas to Sukhu, arguing the government should focus on solving real problems rather than trivial matters.
However, Congress leaders accused the BJP of manufacturing the controversy to politically harass the Chief Minister. Adding to the discord, BJP's youth wing orchestrated a samosa giveaway in the state capital, using the snack as a symbol to critique the government's priorities amidst rising concerns like drug abuse and deteriorating law and order.
