The Odisha administration has downgraded security protection for ex-Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, reducing it from the Z to Y category, according to Amar Patnaik, a prominent leader of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). On Friday, he labeled the decision as a regrettable move by the state government.

Amar Patnaik expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that Naveen Patnaik, a five-term Chief Minister, holds an esteemed position due to his extensive tenure. He is revered as a pillar of the community, seen as a father figure to many residents of Odisha. The downgrading of his security is a step he considers unfortunate, albeit lawful but lacking political decorum.

He cautioned the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that continued actions of this nature could lead to unforgiving political repercussions from the people of Odisha. This follows the recent Assembly elections where BJP secured a majority, ending the BJD's control, with Naveen Patnaik serving as Leader of the Opposition.
